6248 No. 6248 Stickied watch
Okay guys. I'm gonna be helping out sloth with the modding of this board. You guys asked for a sticky purge, so a sticky purge you got. However, as sloth has said, kuro's rules seem to work. So I have left them here. I deleted some of the needless posturing because I found it irritating. The important shit is still there, though.
In addition, you all seemed like you wanted something new from the modding here since kuro left, so I'm gonna leave this sticky unlocked temporarily if you want to suggest something. If it becomes a problem, of course, it will be locked and banhammered as necessary (hopefully it won't come to that).
P.S. I have the names of the books kuro had in this sticky saved in a word file if you guys want them too.
P.S.S. Sloth, if you think it's a bad idea, I guess just lock it or whatever.

#3. Magic vs Magick ~ Magic is defined as stage shit and an entertaining card game that involves intensive collecting. Magick is defined as a quantified force similar to electromagnetic energy that can influence and disrupt natural order or the environment that it's been introduced to.
#4. Organizations ~ If you wish to start an organization on /x/, by all means do so, but please try to keep all relevant information to your little club in a single thread. If you must, please make a forum and link to it. All links with viable information will be kept here as they are posted for your convenience.

#5. Shitposting
Shitposting is defined as a useless contribution to the board. This is not /b/, this is not /r9k/, this is not /fubot/. This is /x/
Let me spell this out to you fuckheads: If it isn't related to the occult, paranormal, supernatural, or plain out weird shit, DON'T POST IT.

#6. THOU SHALT USE PUNCTUATION AND GRAMMAR TO AN ACCEPTABLE DEGREE.

#7. RELATED TOPICS WILL BE KEPT IN RELEVANT THREADS

Gah, I don't remember. Whatever.

It's P.P.S. Post- Postscript.

Nice to meet you, chief, and thanks for taking up the mantle for us. Thus far you seem relaxed and groovy, so I'm hoping that means you're not going to go on some powertrip or brand us your filthy assistants, which should be a ridiculous supposition, but hey, it's not like it hasn't happened.

Further to what was said on /tttm/, rage-laden debates can crop up now and again, and nine times outta ten, it's about magic(k), but most of the time, things here are pretty mellow.

In any case, if this thread's gonna be locked at some point, go ahead and delete this post if you see fit. Just figured I'd welcome you on behalf of the /x/philes around here.

Yes, I had noticed the filthy assistants thing. (shudder) One thing I will promise is that you won't get any of that from me. And thanks for the welcome!

That's the list I made of some books I'd gathered. I've scrounged up about another 100 or so sense then; I'd intended on writing a short review of each one and post it on here, but I've been so preocuppied with music that I didn't have time. I did a sort of rundown of material from "THE UFO-NAUTS (Hans Holzer) 1976" and was actually sort of disturbed by how much material in the book was similar (if not identical) to things within my own experiences- especially because some of it has never appeared in film/TV fiction to my knowledge.
Anyway, if I'm to write some rundowns of these other books (not really reviews, but more cliff note versions) will people on here read it and make use of it? I actually haven't read much of this material besides Daniel Cohen monster books that were in the public library when I was really young; so I really need to force myself to read these.

marthur, I just want to say I have noticed what you have done for this site. Good job. Here is to you becoming an admin, because you surely deserve it more than the people who treat it like a trophy.

Hmmm. There are those who violently disagree with my methods, so I'll take my thanks where I can get it.
So, thanks for the thanks!!

thats not saying he believes in it, hes just defining the term.

The irony comes in because it's a personal, subjective definition, and Kuro's definition is very definitely part of his personal religion - there is no one definition of "magick" (as with many things in the occult). In fact, I myself wouldn't define magick as being a quantified force, nor do I think it's similar to electromagnetic energy.

Aside from the probable Godelian problem (either you'll have a contradiction or you won't cover everything), a good definition will be terribly vague.

You might get away with declaring hallmarks/traits common to most things called magic/k.

Crowley's "Magick is the Science and Art of causing Change to occur in conformity with Will" approaches that. All you have to do is define "Science and Art", "causing", "Change", "Will", and maybe "conformity".

Easier to just think for yourself, tbh.
Well, better.
Thinking for yourself is damnably hard, but if you're going to do magic, you must be: if you're not, someone else is doing magic through you.

For better or worse, would you say? I ask because I'm open to suggestions for making it better, since I'm not /x/-actly an /x/-pert on /x/. Ha. Ha.
Also, were you here during Kuro's time as the mod here?
