Basically, The first meddles with trusts and shit for NFA crap. From my understanding and I have not been able to see the order itself in plain text , it basically cokblocks the whole trust thing completely and makes it so that you must forgo the entire NFA process yadda yadda yadda.
The second blocks reimportation of any weapons we have sent out to other countries. IE he is actively fighting that whole Korean M-1's thing from a year or two ago.

http://www.thebangswitch.com/obama-announces-new-anti-gun-eos/

Given that this was signed on Friday last week before Labor Day and how it effects niche group of gun owners and buyers I think it will go pretty unnoticed. Any thoughts?

I personally think this is gearing up to block imported weapons and ammo, namely from Russland.

swords were really obsolete only post-1840s, when revolvers became reliable and single shot pistols were phased out, but I wonder... what if firearms development had remained stagnant into the present day.

Swords were heavily used by cavalry right up to the Mexican-American war, but reached it's zenith (old tv brand) in 1796, with the british light cavalry saber - a design so successful it was fielded by the germans all the way into WWI!

So what would swords look like if they had continued to evolve?
>> No. 18083
They'd be huge and strapped to tanks. You'd get two kinds, anti-infantry ones that are long and thin and spin like helicopter blades, then huge fat anti-tank ones used to ram into enemy tanks.

Urban warfare would favor smaller, nimbler blades made for thrusting, mirroring the direction that dueling and gentleman's weapons actually did historically take. In theory a ceramic core surrounded by carbon fiber would make for something resilient and light yet able to keep an edge and on top of that avoid metal detectors.

Cavalry sabre levels of fucking shit up would moreso evolve into what amount to efficient chainsaws. The idea is something capable of decapitation even when you don't have the extra momentum of being on a horse.

Did you even google? Carbon fiber composite may be shit-tier blademaking material, but it's been done before.
http://www.tactical-life.com/magazines/guns-and-weapons/escort-carbon-fiber-daggers/
Also, I'm aware Wilson Combat made carbon fiber knives at one point.

Adding a ceramic core wouldn't improve it that much. It would at least hold an edge, but that edge would be far too prone to chipping compared to steel for any serious consideration.

iirc the British commandos in WWII who used the sykes-fairbairn dagger would purposely dull the edges of that knife. A razor edge was prone to getting embedded in bone while a duller edge would bounce off and continue stab deeper into vital structures.

I don't think he realizes that in something like a 9mm the pencil doesn't need to be "shoved" down the barrel. The width of the barrel is much greater than the width of the pencil.

Brass? What's brass used for?

I get lead from a guy whose name is, I shit you not, Bubba. He sells it in big buckets.

I get the primer caps on the internet, and the powder from a local store. I could get bullets and powder from that store, but I prefer to cast my own bullets and the powder is cheaper online.

What part of GA you in bro?

I will go in between Moss Pawn and Franklins(Athens).

Also pretty much the same as you. I make biannual trips to Moss Pawn for primers and powder. Get up to Franklins way more though, they are actually just now going out of stock for shit int eh reloading department. The funny thing is while I have been able to get all the primers and powder I could ever need I cannot get brass anywhere. I also do case conversions so pretty much 30-06 or 270 will work for most large non magnum rifle calibers that are common. Also cast too so fuck jwords.

Damn shame I can't ever find Privi since I have modified shell holders since that eurobrass does fit right in shell holders too. Rey is also definitely cool. Barry mostly acts like an ass when I meet him and Mr. Moss himself is pretty cool and gave me some free calenders and a free mag last Christmas.

Glad to see 45 brass back in stock at midway along with ammo in most shops for everything but .22 now. Sucks that reloaders are the bottom of the food chain when it comes to getting shit back stocked.

1377 .177 american classic crosman air pistol. My current carry since I was 13 years old. I bought the plastic stock, turning it effectively, into a carbine. I know its a little goofy but the camo duct tape looks pretty nice on it, and it doubles up as a pouch for the .177 lead hollow point BB's. ten pumps gets up to 500 FPS, which is quite deadly, and even illegal in alot of places. Biggest critter I took down with it was a really fat squirrel.

Would you consider this a weapon capable of self defense?

Yes, does that change things for you? i am not too familiar with real firearms.

Neigh the fact that I probably have no fucking clue about the use of a real combustion rifle or pistol, I don't think it really matters if the weapon can put an opponent out of the fight. I am having a bitch of a time deciding whether to go all the way and go through all the training and permits to own a firearm, or just put a shot in an intruders neck with this weapon. I have since ordered a .20 air pistol that is co2 powered through a trusted brand's website. I'll post pics when it arrives in a week or two.

I understand your country is an oppressive police state. What I was getting at, frustratingly, is that a 10 grain .20 pellet will be ineffective in just about 99.99% of circumstances. Punching an attack in the mouth would provide far better results than even a well placed .20 pellet to the neck.

Americans like things big for a reason. That's why we invented the .45 ACP, the .40 S&W, 10mm and so on. Size DOES matter.

Honestly, you should just buy a knife (unless those are illegal too), or perhaps a kubaton, and study a fighting art. Or better yet, move to America (or Switzerland).

Modern calibers all have about the same terminal ballistics. Just the trauma area differs between the rounds, but all of them can puncture through 12" of flesh.
>> No. 18078
>>18077

Leaving aside that you're completely wrong, you're also ignoring the fact that puncturing flesh doesn't matter worth a shit if there's not enough kinetic energy being transferred to the target to create a shockwave that damages the surrounding area. Do you think you can shoot well enough to reliably hit the jugular artery or brain stem with this stupid thing? If not, it's a waste of time, and if so, you're even more of an idiot than I thought.

Still didn't answer his question. A baton is a stick. what shit state doesn't allow you to carry a stick?
>> No. 18048
>>18047

Apparently most of them. Checking into it, there are nebulous laws which could or could not apply to whip baton even in my port, and you can get a CC here for like 70 bux and a handshake.

(Seriously. You can take a CC test over the internet and get your cert express mailed to you in a day. It makes me proud in my deepest cockles.)

AFICT, it's one of those things that a cop can hassle you about if they want to hassle you. You know, like basically everything else.

Meanwhile, I can carry around a straight blade up to 24 inches long as long as it's only sharpened on one side. So, yeah, I've got a machete hidden in my backpack ready for quick access, and it's perfectly legal. It turns out that the only knife law on the books just covers dirks and daggers and defines them as double edged.
>> No. 18052
>>18047
Actually I did answer his question. I said I was unsure whether a straight baton/stick was illegal, but I KNOW that whip batons are illegal. Interestingly, a straight baton may or may not be illegal, but I can carry a hardwood cane, or I just saw a polypropylene cane with a mace-head grip, that is perfectly legal to carry. LOL There are loopholes if you're willing to look for them.
>> No. 18067
I know that "leaded canes" and "billy clubs" are the only sticks in CA that are specifically illegal. So I'm certain that, according to CA law, "whip batons" are never mentioned. But I'm also certain that as cops see it "billy club" means everything from a newly-fallen branch to a collapsible metal baton.
http://ag.ca.gov/firearms/dwcl/dwc.pdf

But did we really need to specifically mention fucking lipstick knives? Who in the fuck has ever even had a ballistic knife except for the Punisher? Yeah, that belt buckle knife epidemic of '96 was terrible, wasn't it? And the shobi-zue massacres of '02? Grisly.

>polypropylene cane with a mace-head grip
They might call that a leaded cane, but the law does specifically say that "a "leaded cane" means a staff, crutch, stick, rod, pole, or similar device, unnaturally weighted with lead". So if it's not lead you are possibly ok in CA.

Never be out alone. Alternatively, always walk at a brisk pace, give corners and alleys a wide berth, and don't wear headphones. If you're walking quickly enough anyone catching up to you from behind should have to make quite a bit of noise to get in range, thus the lack of headphones.

2. No repeats! (i.e. you can't just have bruce lee, bruce lee and bruce lee)

I suppose this also goes here.
I got bored one day and tried to get an idea of how much milsurp ammo usually goes for.

If you're not in somewhere where you're supposed to be handling these things, there's always The Armory, the silk road gun equivalent. Same management.

Thinking only of a home defense weapon, and presuming loaded with 00 buckshot, #4 buckshot, or slug, what do you guys think of them?

The terminal ballistics are excellent, no question.

On the other hand, the relatively low capacity compared to semi-auto handguns or many rifles is a drawback. Let alone the high recoil and comparative difficulty in reloading.

Thoughts?

Why not go with bird shot?

At close range its gunna do the job and it wont go through walls like your larger game shells.

Birdshot should not be considered for home defense. It lacks the necessary penetration to reliably stop a threat. If it won't bunch through dry wall it might not punch through a thick leather best or winter coat either.

Floating around the Internet is a video interview of some kid that was shot multiple times at point blank with bird shot. Obviously, he survived. You could make the argument that shooting him/her in the face would render the assailant blind or whatever the fuck. However, you simply will not be able to this if the adrenaline starts pumping. Center mass every time, using something that can penetrate to vital organs consistently.

There's a few shotguns out there with a 8+1 capacity. That's more than what a standard 1911 will hold. If you need more than 9 shots to stop a perp or a group of perps, you may want to reconsider your ownership of a shotgun. We aren't talking Call of Duty, bum rush the capture point type of shit here. We're talking legitimate, "I am going to break in because there should be no threat waiting to stop me". Usually when they hear you chamber rounds, they stop.
If you are that worried about low capacity/high recoil, there are also semi-auto shotguns out there and AR type shotguns (full buttstock, magazines, and all). The first one doesn't satisfy your "low capacity" argument, but the AR styled shotgun does. You can easily swap magazines.
Honestly, it all boils down to personal preference and repetitive training. If you don't train with your home defense weapons, don't expect to be able to use them adequately in a high stress environment, such as those when people break into your home.

It cannot bear enough repeating:

Home defense weapons are a deterrent. If someone breaking into your house sees you with a weapon, they're pretty likely to leave, and quickly.

If you own a weapon, you must train with it. Train seriously, and regularly. It is far more dangerous to own it and never learn how to use it than it is to not own a gun.

Hiya there. Aficionado writer with a question here.
This one is for the wrestling savvy: Which are the best wrestling moves to use in an unwilling and/or resisting opponent? I'm aiming for something quick and painful.
I'm pretty sure there are other martial arts throws and grapples just as spectacular and painful, so please enlighten me.

arm lock, wrist lock, less wrestling moves are elbow strike tu muscle or locked joint, punch in the throat, kick in the knee, kick to the ankle...ecc.. i hope i helped you..

standing arm lock.

Wrist lock. (it can be performed standing)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1IKEiMsC7fY

actually, in reality it's very hard to perform some wrestling move if the aggressor-victim is unwilling and stronger than you. You have to hit him first to make him "relax" for just a second to take out his strenght. Then you will be able to perform a lock or something else. If you could be a little more specific i think i can help you. sorry for my bad english.

This is really easy to answer, there is none.

In wrestling, judo, BJJ, and all other serious grappling arts the 'best' technique is going to be determined by positioning/orientation, your skill/personal preferences, and your opponent's skill.

The common "high percentage" moves like RNC's and arm bars can easily be less useful than an uncommon technique like various 'suicide throws' or any move that is prefaced with "flying".

Just like there is no best punch or kick there is no best hold, choke, or throw; its all situational.
