You guys should use zippyshare or mega.co.nz, mediafire is shit now, you're lucky if something you upload stays up for 5 minutes.

Anyway, sharing something pretty rare (only 220 listeners on last.fm for the artist, and a mere 41 for the album):
Helicoid 0222MB - Helicoid 0222MB [1999]
>Fun music made by three Japanese women ... It's quite hard to define their music with genre labels. There's bits and pieces of lots of different genres in their music, so I guess you could label it "experimental", although it's not avant-garde or anything. There's bits of rock, punk, dub, and ambient to name a few in there.
http://www61.zippyshare.com/v/18716433/file.html @ MP3 | 320kbps

Can upload more of their albums if there's sufficient interest.

And now something a little more well known (or perhaps "infamous" would be a better way to put it).

The Gerogerigegege - Tokyo Anal Dynamite [1990]
>Noisecore, Japanese Ultra Shit Band, WAN TOO SURIIII FOAAAAAAH!
http://www13.zippyshare.com/v/19747990/file.html @ MP3 | 320kbps

If you're wondering what the name of the band means, it can be roughly translated as the onomatopoeia for someone throwing up and shitting simultaneously.
>> No. 1827
>>1826
Actually it's not an onomatopoeia. Gero means vomit and geri means diarrhea. Gegege IS an onomatopoeia, but it's supposed to be the sounds a (japanese) man makes when extremely disgusted.

Also does clicking on the post number in order to automatically have it quoted in the message box not working for anyone else? And can we write the descriptions like a normal person instead of >like this?

>Also does clicking on the post number in order to automatically have it quoted in the message box not working for anyone else?

I'm having the same issue. It can be worked around by clicking the post number and then refreshing the page afterwards, otherwise you have to copy and paste the post number manually.

On the topic of site bugs, does the quote preview thing not work for anyone else? This has been a long-standing issue for me across multiple computers, but hovering over a quote link just yields a popup box saying "something went wrong (blank response)".

Ephel Duath - The Painter's Palette (2003)

http://www7.zippyshare.com/v/15049026/file.html

JAZZ BLACK METAL MOTHERFUCKER by the hand of the (once) amazingly creative Italian band Ephel Duath. This is their second full length after a kind of symphonic avantgarde black metal debut.
Energetic, everchanging, slightly schizophrenic; imagine a collab between latter day Deathspell Omega and the Mahavishnu Orchestra. The singer alternates between post-hardcore shouts and Garmesque expressive singing. Assuming there was just the one vocalist in this album. I can't remember.

I don't know what to upload, so I'm taking requests. Doesn't need to be something specific, maybe just name a genre or a style or an instrument or a mood, and I'll see what I can do.

For the moment being, I'll just upload what I'm listening to at the moment.

Fred Frith - Gravity, 1980 (320kbps)

How to describe this album, or indeed anything Frith's ever done? It's not Avant-Rock, not R.I.O., not noise rock, not tape experiments nor guitar solos; it's not Hungarian folklore nor contemporary chamber music. It's everything I just said and then some. Every single track is an amalgam of such disparate elements, but arranged in such a clever, beautiful way that you won't notice anything weird until you try to recollect exactly what went through your ears. This is Frith's third solo effort, although since his first two albums were guitar solos (and the second was kind of a four-way split), I consider this to be his first proper album. If you've ever heard of Henry Cow, Art Bears or anything related to R.I.O., and it has piqued your interest, then really you have no excuse not to listen to this. It's not just avantgarde and experimental to the point of ridiculousness, it's also fun, catchy, varied and more importantly very, very cohesive.

I just-- I just love Fred Frith, dudes.

Here goes nothin'

Tangerine Dream - Phaedra, 1974

Phaedra, Tangerine Dream's fifth full length effort is somewhat a far cry from their dense, exploratory and mysterious first two albums (landmarks of the early Krautrock scene). It captures the band mid-transition between the monolithic electronic minimal ambiance found on their second and fourth albums and the more well known sound from the second half of the '70s onward, which would, amongst other bands, found the so-called Berlin School of Electronic Music (HUGE influence on Trance, House and Techno, much like the Dusseldorf School was an influence and a precursor of Electro and Synth Rock/Pop in general).

Phaedra presents a dreamy and dense landscape that begins to show the more sequencer-driven, melodic and accessible side of the band, without losing its mystique.

Hope ya like it.

Ok let's try this first:

My Bloody Valentine - Isn't Anything, 1988

The epitome of Shoegaze's formative years (not quite there, yet closer to it than to anything else), their first full length studio effort is a definitive gem of atmospheric, noisy alternative rock. The album finds the Irish band in a state of transition from their post-punk/noise rock origins towards the sound that would make them legendary and influential a couple years later. It's crude and more song-oriented, yet we get definitive glimpses of the rising ambitions as a guitarist and producer of one Kevin Shields.

The album is a clash between primitive '80s rock and innovative recording techniques and studio manipulation of (mainly guitar) sound, without being a mere exercise in application of technology. The songs are varied yet they all carry that characteristic thick and fuzzy sound, sometimes bordering on a distorted and anesthetized nightmare rock (get it? because there's dream rock and then... well, nevermind), and sometimes hitting hard directly to the ear. The whole thing carries an air of melancholy and yearning while betraying some feelings of hopefulness and a somewhat childish innocence, a kind of rose-tinted-glassed bliss. Wistful and wishful at the same time.

I don't know what else to say. I think you'll like it.
