Welcome to /move/ Discuss dancin'. Don't be obnoxious.
technoviking
DnB dance/step. freaking awesome
just saw on aots, hilariousity
>You shouldn't worry about looking cool. Do it because it's fun. And imo it looks even less cool doing sync stuff for people who don't know jumpstyle Jumpstyle just looks tiring, much less fun, but do whatever makes you feel happy i guess... And why wouldn't it look cool to people who have not seen it done in sync with one another, even if they haven't seen jumpstyle before. That's usually how its presented in many of the videos I've seen and that's what had me intrigued the first time I saw it.
>>853 I just think the idea of two guys rehearsing a dance routine in their room to break out on the dancefloor is kinda ghey lol. It's fun when all your friends are fucked and randomly jumping aboot but when it's synchronised... nah haha
Okay, I recently tried actually dancing, and not moshing, and I enjoyed it very much. Now. How do I learn to dance like I'm possessed by demons? I get extremely emotional while listening to some bands, and I want to translate it into movement without doing anything criminal/injuring people. Ideally it should be dynamic, very fast and open to improvisation. Breakdancing? Cossack dancing? Capoeira? I dunno, help me. Pictor unrelated, but nice.
>>848 breakdancing with a mixture of modern.
Just let the music take control, bro. Also tecktonik.
Lets all discuss music that no matter what, always gets you movin'. for me it's classic house/techno and early rave music. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=swljUqGNinA http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NGGkjvSBoJw
Melbourne Shuffle Thread The Melbourne shuffle is a style of dance, which originated in the late 1980s in the Melbourne underground scene. Shuffling can be broken down into three distinct movements: The T-Step, the Running Man, and Spins. Additional movements such as hand, and hat tricks are also usually incorporated.
>>82>>205 Ive been shuffling for about a year. I still am unable to get spins down.
This guy entertains
>>846 Haha! I do that in Tesco
happy shroomsday
So I come from /ask/ because I fail and I didn't knew there was a /move/. Anyways. So right now I wanna hit some EBM/Industrial clubs in California (europfag here). I noticed that standing around outside of the dancefloor is no fun and is for looser. Since nobody wants to be a looser (me neither) I wanna learn to dance to Industrial/EBM. So far I saw a few videos on how people dance it and this is what I think about it: Most of the stuff is done with the upper body, e.g. Arms and Hands. You don't slide or jump around. Sometimes a kick is thrown in, but basically you never really leave your spot. Also, depending on who you watch, the motions with Arms and Hands look good if you either do it "powerfull" to every beat, or "smoothly" around the beat. Video is what I thought is "powerfull" ?
So basically my question would be: What do you think about it? Does it make sense to combine it? And last but not least how do I start? Of course I prolly start in some club and will look like a tit, but since every dancestyle has its teachers, I hoped this one has one as well.
OP here. So I fail. Nothing new here. 1st vid: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7P2da9-2Jbs 2nd vid: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x7Ahl4nVXuM
lol
Any paralists on /move/?
>>830 This isn't the same stuff as in OP's vid. For one, I can see these people move their legs.
>>831 They're both Para para. I promise you. It's not forbidden to move your legs in para para, most of them do but only a little. That's why its so popular with fat weeaboos, it's easier if you don't have to actually move around too much. You can just flail your arms in place and pretend it's awesome.
I used to have nearly a hundred gigabytes of eurobeat on my computer. Then I turned 15 and realized how much of a faggot I was.
Why does dancing have to be classified into styles and moves? Why can't we just dance. I really define dancing as the physical embodiment of music. I think I heard that somewhere first though, but it is true.
>>802 Bog pomagaj! I'm ashamed that my country has fallen prey to the turbofolcloristic genre.
Whenever people ask "why do we have to have genres in x" (usually music) it's almost always because they have yet to either discover more or refine their tastes. Kinda like saying, why do have genres for movies or novels? Err, to help identify them. Even if you do want to just I dunno, "do your own thing" or something, it would probably be considered "post modern" or "avant garde". We humans love categorising things.
Because things that are different from each other can be told apart by distinguishing characteristics that allow for sub-groupings to be created that are valid. Even if you try to "just dance", your movements will either A) Share distinguishing characteristics with a currently-existing sub-grouping, B) Have distinguishing characteristics of its own which would necessitate the creation of a new sub-group, C) Share distinguishing characteristics with multiple sub-groups that currently exist, warranting the application of multiple labels, or D) Be random motions and look fucking retarded. In which case it still fits the sub-group "random retard shit" E) Blend all styles simultaneously and F) Have no distinguishing characteristics and warrant the application of no labels are both options that are impossible. Tada!
Whatever happened to real dancing? You know, the kind that's not just lascivious gyrations.
