This is easy to research, and the quickest way to do so is to research what fluoride poisoning does to horses and cattle.

2) I don't discount the health benefits of natural trace fluorides in the diet, but we're not talking about naturally occurring trace amounts. We're talking about unregulated medication of the populace without control of the dosage administered, and the source sodium fluoride being industrial grade waste from the nuclear industry, in addition to additional fluoride exposure via phosphate fertilizers used in growing our food supplies and its accumulation in our food as well as toothpastes, etc. Where is the line, why is it not regulated, and why doesn't anybody care if most of the public is exceeding what's considered a safe dosage?

3) Why is unregulated dosages of sodium fluoride being pressed out into the public water supply when studies showing its effectiveness at preventing tooth decay are nebulous at best, and the leading cause of tooth decay comes down to the diet a person is raised on during their childhood and the overall exposures to acidic foods?

4) Why do proponents of sodium fluoride usage always gloss over its usage as a means of chemical sterilization and its abilities to make people more docile when administered? You always hear it's for the teeth, but fluoride usage didn't start throughout the civilized world until after WWII, and coincidentally after the Germans were caught using fluoridated water as a means of control in their prison camps.

I can't help but think that if tap water was so incredibly dangerous to the point of being poisonous than my immediate community (who overall drink tap water because the bottled stuff is too damned expensive) would all be exhibiting similar medical problems. Not that I don't enjoy watching two groups of people who likely are NOT biochemists discussing biochemistry but if we all just put our ideological guns down for a moment we would probably see things a bit more clearly. You're both (at least partially) right though, there are a number of very good reasons not to consume aspartame, it tasting like shit being a few down on the list.

Since this is the conspiracy board, I have some counter-speculation to the "tap water vs bottled water" argument. It is in fact a subtle attempt by Coca Cola (and other companies who profit by bottling water) to install a self imposed privatization on the most basic of human necessities. There are plenty of places on earth which genuinely don't have clean running water and were actually pretty lucky given what we have (we can even filter it once more after it leaves the tap). Yes, we could raise complaints about whatever the 10 parts per millions are (or whatever the figures are in your geographical area) and if that improves the quality of the filtration process than that's great. However, I've yet to see anyone drop dead from trace amounts of fluoride in their drinking water.
