I've only gotten through the first 4 or so chapters as of yet, but it's pretty amazing. He was a teacher for decades, and spent at least 10 years researching the subject.

Also, there's the Norman Dodd Congressional Investigation HR217, back in the 1950's into tax exempt foundations that blew the lid off of the whole thing, but got buried and ignored. Continues today, and is probably even worse.

Lies My Teacher Told Me, by James Loewen, is a very well-written book about all the facts not covered in high school history courses, how we gloss over the most awful parts of history, and the awful tendency of teaching chronology (memorization of unrelated events) instead of real history (causes and explanations).
