I'm >>4290.

It's an RMS rating on this one. 65W is the max it can safely output given an average load of 8ohms. I meant just checking the marketing literature, impedance varies with frequency.

Don't bother with test tones, you aren't running a PA system. By hooking up your woofers, do you mean running the cables without an xover straight to the midbass cone? That's generally unnecessary if they have a built in xover (most speakers like this should). The cones should just move. And if they don't, you picked them up for $2, nobody really loses. Repairing anything would be a waste of effort.

Regarding concerns about overpowering - Just do what most people do and recognise that when they start making odd farting noises, etc - it's time to turn the knob down. Unless you're listening to near-full-duty music (sine waves - dubstep usually), just trust your ears and common sense. It's really excessive bass that kills small speakers like this (see the frequency range on your picture).

If they don't have surrounds, you'll just destroy the cones, by the way. They won't make much sound either (flap flap flap).

I could post a sound description of this type of amp, but just be assured that it sounds good (people collect the higher end models).

Check your Boston's foam prices and impedance (if there's an efficiency rating in db 1W/1m or power rating in W, that would be useful). If it's 8 ohms, that'd be great, anything lower than 2 is unlikely, but in that case ditch them. They're probably not worth the money refoaming anyway.
