just a little FYI Force Recon and Recon don't exist anymore. The Marines have re consolidated into MARSOC. It's more of an Army SF concept in disposition but a different job. I would say that as far as manly goes and I'm a little biased since I'm in the Army but I would say we are overall. With the size of the Army you are bound to have some shitbags but overall we are damn manly. We have SF, Rangers, LRRS, Airborne, Air Assault. The best damn helicopter pilots in the world and we are by far better equipped than the Marines. Except of course their MARSOC which falls under SOCOM just like all other SOF units including Rangers, SF, Seals, and AFSOC. Dont get me wrong the Marines are awesome. Best way to describe it is if you want to win a large scale battle with tactics on a country wide scale you send the Army i.e. Europe WW2. If you need someone to just run into enemy fire and through mass numbers take a fixed position you send Marines i.e. Island fighting in WW2. I mean come on we jump out of perfectly good airplanes with 100lbs of shit attached to you. How manly is that?
