Old people are smelly and they usually turn around everything they did when they were younger. If someone has a particular political stance for instance in their youth, when they become old and more senile they get jealous of the youth and hypocritical.

They forget, or choose to anyway.

In some ways you could say that it would be selling out, but if you buy into the mythos of someone in their lifetime, be sure that when they get older they will turn into a cunt. I guess in some ways you could call this selling out.

I could list a lot of examples of this, but I can't really be bothered.

It might sound odd and make you angry, but just be happy the people you like are dead.

They don't like or want weirdos that can't survive in life so turn to Satan and spooky shit to feel powerful, but they don't understand that the Church of Satan people don't actually believe in Satan or any mythical entities for that matter. They worship themselves and that's it. So yeah, it is a selfish religion but I've heard LaVey call it that before.

From what I understand it's for the leaders, not for everyone. It wouldn't exactly be pragmatic for everyone to be a satanist, nothing would get done, you would have no-one to do what you wanted them to do because they wouldn't listen to you.

All in all, LaVey was just someone who wanted to make a name for himself by doing something different, he accomplished a lot in that regard, and succeeded where others had failed by making Satanism a legitimate religion and gathering the backing of powerful and influential people at the time.

But the man was really in it for the money and he proved that when he decided to sell membership to the higher levels.

However it's claimed by some followers that he really did believe in Satan at one point in time, away and in secret from the other people that he wanted to get in the church, and worshipped him, then later changed his mind.
But maybe this again was just a show.
