At first I thought the shadow of the Batman in OPs picture was an elaborate shadow puppet. It's possible that it was painful to pull off.

no, you could od it, may need gloves but you could so do it... i may try.
pics later if it works.

The fact that Frank Miller botchs at art ruins any enjoyment for me.

Yes, I know most other fans will agree, no I'm not farming. I just think Miller is horribly overrated.

Ah ha... I meant "most other fans with disagree" as in. I am aware as this often, nigh-always called THE #1 Batman book, and often getting in at least the top 3-5 on most lists getting beat out by only Watchmen, and Maus.

I really enjoyed the story but I do have to agree the artwork isn't the best. The writing more than makes up for it in my mind.

Lame, boring as shit, doesn't go anywhere.
"The Holocaust was terrible, my father was a jerk and I didn't spend enough time with him, and I'm such a bad artist, baaaaaawwwwwwwwwwwww."

I wasn't calling it a good comic.

But it does show up in the top 3 of nearly every "Best Graphic Novels of all time" list. Just like TDKR, and I disagree with both being in the top 3.

i think that book is what made batman cool again to the masses, i also love the art. as raw as that book was a glossy pretty artist would have just fucked up the entire books mood. the 80's ideal of post apocalipdea was the best

see: robo cop, mad max, bladerunner..

it was a personal piece of work, it was just him trying to justify and find out why his father was the way he was. You can say it was boring, but it's significant. It shows readers that comic books are just not about men in tights and violence.

Way ahead of it's time, and laid the foundation for Infinite Crisis, Final Crisis and Marvel:Civil War. At least a top 10 book. BTW, anybody got any old Elementals or Badger downloads?

man, you love black star wars characters.

There are many non-superhero comic books that are far better than Maus. Maus always gets ultra bonus points for being about the Holocaust and of course, in every top ten list where it comes out on top, some cunt always says something like, "It shows us that comics don't have to be about men in tights and violence".

We fucking know. They also don't have to be boring-ass self-indulgent jackoffery.

I didn't like TDKR at all. I hated the artwork, I thought the story was pretty stupid, although chick Robin was hot, and it did have an opportunity to create the most awesome moment in comic book history, but overall, I was unimpressed. Then again, I don't think Frank Miller should be allowed anywhere near established characters. Sin City, great, 300 was ok, but I've been underwhelmed by most of Batman stuff. Sometimes I don't understand why Miller is held in such high regard when writers like Jeph Loeb aren't heard of outside of comic shops. I'll take the long halloween over the dark knight returns eight days a week.

Oh and Batman should have died at the end, it felt like the story lost a bit of dignity by having him survive at the end.
>> No. 5751
Miller's artwork comes down mostly to personally taste. If you don't like people who look like they're made entirely of squares, you probably won't like him.
>> No. 5754
Jeph Loeb is the best writer. See also: Ultimatum
